Manika Batra’s recommendation for Arjuna Award


The table tennis player Manika Batra, who won 4 medals including two gold in Commonwealth Games, was named by the Indian Table Tennis Federation (TTFI) today for the prestigious Arjuna Awards. TTFI official said, “We have sent his nomination today. After such a strong performance in the Gold Coast, it will be very difficult for the committee (government) to ignore it.

The 22-year-old Delhi player defeated Feng Tiawei of Singapore three times in the Gold Coast, the Olympic gold medalist, who won the fourth place in the world ranking. He is the only Indian player to win four medals in this tournament.

In addition to winning the record gold in the team event and women’s singles, Rajat and G. along with Mouma Das in women’s doubles. Bronze medal in mixed doubles with Sathiyan was won. Manika’s next challenge will be to perform spectacularly in the world championship starting on April 29 in Sweden.
